Compost nonrecyclable paper.
By adding some nonrecyclable cardboard and paper to your compost, you can reduce the amount of trash you produce by around 80%. Things such as tissues and egg cartons can help decomposition.
Recycle newspapers.
Over 85 million tons of paper is used each year by America alone, but only 52% of that was recycled. By recycling your newspapers and magazine, you can save millions of trees and have that paper reused.
Recycle your cellular phone.
When your cell phone is thrown out, it adds to the 65,000+ tons of toxic waste. Your cell phone can be recycled by doniting it to a charity that collects old phones and gives them to people in need.
Suggest composting.
At schools, much of the trash there is organic and can be made into compost. Try to show schools the type of effect a compost can have on the environment and encourage them to use the proper methods.
